Concessionary travel pass
The National Concessionary Travel Scheme provides passes that give free off-peak travel on buses, trains and trams.
The pass can be used anywhere in England between 9.30am and
11pm, Monday to Friday, and all day at weekends and public
holidays. You can use the pass before 9.30am but you will be
charged half the normal fare.
Who is eligible for an older person's bus pass?
If you live in England, you'll be entitled to a bus pass giving
free off-peak travel on local buses when you reach 'eligible
age':
- You're eligible for an older person's bus pass from your 60th
birthday, if you were born before 6 April 1950.
- If you're a woman born after 5 April 1950, you'll become
eligible for an older person's bus pass when you reach pensionable
age.
- If you're a man born after 5 April 1950, you'll become eligible
when you reach the pensionable age of a woman born on the same
day.
What is a Concession Plus travel pass?
Some disabled people can travel for free on buses at all times
in the borough. If you qualify, a Concession Plus pass allows
you to travel for free on buses at all times in the borough and for
free on local buses elsewhere in England between 9.30am and 11pm
Monday to Friday, and all day at weekends and on public
holidays.
