Prevention Team

The Prevention Team are the first point of contact into Adult Care Services and support residents borough wide to improve their health, wellbeing and independence. We aim to put preventative measures in place so that problems can be identified early on before they become more serious.

Our Services

General Prevention
The service works with people who have issues which are a barrier to good health and wellbeing, this may be things like, debt, housing, substance misuse, mental health issues (diagnosed and undiagnosed) etc. This support can be direct or may be to signpost or refer to more appropriate solutions.

Digital & Assistive Technology
Residents of the Rochdale Borough can access standalone assistive technology. Standalone assistive technology is a piece of equipment that can be wirelessly installed in the home or connected to a care assist pager to assist carers and those they care for while they are at home. Here are a few reasons why you should think about installing standalone assistive technology;

  • You or the person you care for has reduced mobility
  • You or the person you care for have regular falls or have become at risk of falls
  • You or the person you care for want to remain independent within your own home
There is currently no charge for standalone assistive technology as Rochdale Adult Care Services provide this equipment for free.

Support for carers
Rochdale Borough Council recognise the importance and value of informal carers. The Prevention Team regularly review carers assessments to identify areas where carers require support so they are able to continue in their caring role.
The carers assessment will look at various aspects of the carers' health and wellbeing and identify areas of support required, either in communities, by making small changes, or by a carers personal budget which makes their caring role sustainable.
We would recommend that any carers in need of support, should also access support through the Carers hub.
